This project was meant as a practice exercise in designing as well as branding. I determined elements I wanted to incorporate in my personal branding to develop a corresponding logo and color palette. With this project, I wanted to take it a step further and practice video editing to create an animated logo. Motion graphics have always been an inspiration in my video editing and I had fun learning how to apply it to my logo.
I wanted to create a visually interesting element incorporating my personal logo and improve my video editing with mo-graphs.
I began by brainstorming key aspects of my identity and values I wanted to reflect. I decided to focus on playfulness, which I emulate in my daily life to uplift myself and others. I visualized this through my initials paired with a character/mascot, which I chose to be a sheep to honor my Chinese zodiac heritage. I iterated on Figma to create a clean vector graphic made of simple and round shapes to preserve playfulness and ease the animation process. Before exporting, I tested to ensure the colors were AAA-compliant for website accessibility.
The next portion of my workflow was importing the logo into Illustrator to separate layers and prepare for animation in After Effects. After importing all of the layers into an AE composition, I split the animation by text and by feature of the sheep (face, ears, fur). To bring my logo to life, I keyframed position, size, and rotation elements, aiming for bouncy motions.
